"Always laugh when you can. It is cheap medicine" - Byron

Why Laugh ?

Where do you want me to start !

We all know from personal experience how good it feels to laugh - and studies of people after laughter show that the endorphins, those uplifting hormones that keep you feeling positive, cheerful, and happy, stay circulating around your blood and your brain for longer than you might expect. So a good laugh is a real investment for the rest of the day.

But now research on laughter has shown that it has all sorts of other health benefits too:

STRESS HORMONES: too much adrenaline and cortisol get your heart racing, your muscles tensing, make you nervous and jumpy, and interfere with your sleep - but according to Dr Lee Berk's research you can watch the levels of these harmful hormones in the blood drop after a good laugh.

HEART: Laughter helps your heart according to researchers at the University of Maryland - it relaxes the blood vessels and allows blood to flow more easily around the body. After a good laugh, your blood pressure will be lower than it was before.

WHITE BLOOD CELLS:
these are the cells that fight off disease, viruses, even cancers. Lee Berk's studies recorded that levels of several different types of white blood cells go up after laughing.
So give your immune system a good boost by laughing.

EXERCISE
: If you're a real gym bunny, then good for you. For all the rest of us who don't always find it that easy to get in the recommended three-times-a-week aerobic exerise, you'll be pleased to hear that
laughter gives you all the same benefits as a workout ! It gets your heart beating faster, your blood pumping, burns up calories and works your lungs.

RELAXATION: There's more good news here!
Studies have shown that after a good laugh, your muscles soften and relax. So use laughter to let go of tension and get more laid back.
